Citizenship Award

Congratulations to Kim and the whole staff at Yesteryear.  We were recently given a 5 star citizenship award from James Stevens and the “Gifts to Give” foundation.  During the summer months we refurbished a number of used bicycles that were donated to the organization for homeless and less fortunate people in the greater New Bedford area.  We never asked for compensation for these repairs since Kim felt it was such a worthy cause.  If you’d like to donate any used toys/clothing to them please do.  They are located at 21 Cove St. in the south end.  Good luck to all the wonderful “angels” that volunteer there !!!!DSCF6924

Skateboards for Christmas ????

DSCF6914

We now have the full line of KRYPTONICS skateboards available & in stock !

Thats right, the original skateboard mfg. from the 80’s is back in business making retro skateboards exactly like they used to be.

Long boards, regular style, large wheel, small wheel… we’ve got em’ all !   Priced as low as $40.  C’mon by and check out a piece of new/old history.  These are a lot cheaper than an Ipad and a LOT more fun.  We also have taken on the BERN line of skate helmets as well.  Great fit… look rad.

Please click on the logo pictured here and bookmark our page.  The New Bedford Bicycle Committee is a local group of cycling advocates who are passionate about promoting safe cycling in the greater New Bedford area.  Together with mayor Jon Mitchell and other local government offiicials and Mass in Motion as well as many other state organizations, we are striving to build safe bike lanes throughout the city as well as linking Dartmouth to Fairhaven and eventually joining  “Providence to Provincetown”.  We at the shop are actively involved and ask you all join us.  We offer friendly easy paced group rides through the warmer months and many cycling activities as well.

The group meets monthly at city hall downtown and all are welcomed to attend.  Guest speakers are usually present and lots of fun is had.  If you are interested in cycling and want to keep it getting stronger in New Bedford them please check out the N.B.B.C.  We are even planning a gala FREE Christmas party at the shop for EVERYONE on Dec. 18th.  Mark your calenders… it’s going to be a ball !!!!

New Workstation

Check out the newest addition to our “entourage” of high tech tools at Yesteryear.  This is the latest in work stations from EVT  ( Efficient Velo Tools ) from Portland Oregon.  This company manufactures nothing but precision bicycle repair equipment totally in the US of A.  All products are hand machined and finished to exact standards.

This “zero-gravity” work-stand is so radical !!!  You simply wheel the bike up to the receptor claw, clamp the seat post snugly and turn the crank to release the internally counterweight which controls the elevation of the bicycle and VOILA …  your bike magically rises to work height with no effort on the mechanics part.  Turning the bicycle over for under bottom bracket work if effortless also thanks to the offset camber of the work claw.  Totally thought out and designed… THANKS TO EVT for making our job easier.  We have installed the first of three workstations right inside the service entrance at the shop so all incoming repair work can be assessed quickly & more accurately.

Common down and let us give your bike a FREE safety evaluation and a “ride” on the new work stand.  Your bike will feel like you took it to Disney world and bought it a ticket to an “E” ride !!!!!
